NEW STUDIO!!!
15/05/2019
I am delighted to tell you I am now a studio holder at Flax Art Studios, Havelock House, Ormeau Road, Belfast. I am just settling in and organising the space to its maximum capability. It's great to have a dedicated space to house your creativity and enhance your creative output.
INTERACTION, REACTION AND CONNECTION (Working Title)
Coming soon.....
My current work is a visual represent the interactions, reactions and connections that map out our everyday lives.
What is our impact on each others journeys, stories and do we leave a memory or a scar?
This is an organically grown, process driven, experimental project. Unusually for me I will be using stitching techniques to document the process and no doubt there will be many forms that will evolve from the initial brief.
I will try to update this information as I progress and I will create a project page with supporting images when the work is complete.
LEGACY - The stories we tell when we are no longer here to tell them
Coming Soon in 2018.....
Legacy and the stories that remain - A personal journey.
I am working on a new piece of work revolved around the idea of the legacy we leave and how death and dying is outplayed in both the public and the private.
UPDATE: This project, due to the sensitive nature of it will be a long term project slowly evolving in the background.
More to come.....
ECHO - ADAI Funded Project
2013 - 2015
ECHO is a sound installation supported by the ADAI. The work is an auditory account of language, based on the original ‘A PLAY ON WORDS’ text. The configured readings of the text creates a sense of the fragility of language itself whilst also mimicking the rhythmic properties within language. The recording will be site specific with the intention of commenting on the historically and cultural control over language.
REDEEMER CENTRAL
Sept 2014
Culture Night
Reconfiguration of A Play On Words and the use of language. Exhibited in Redeemer Central on culture night and staged to compliment current work on display.
ARTS & DISABILITY FORUM - ADAI Award Ireland
Nov 2013
Arts & Disability Forum, Royal Avenue, Belfast.
Just been informed that my proposal for funding by the ADF has been successful. I submitted my proposal in June this year and just found out this week that I have been successful in securing partial funding. I didn't receive the full amount that was proposed but as the Installation has three separate elements I recognise the potential for the three elements to be delivered as three separate projects if need be. I will keep you posted on the final deliverable soon but my initial thoughts are that I will be experimenting with rhythmic properties of language.
